Allowing Certain Entities to Submit their Assessment of Fair Housing on a Later Date

HUD recently issued the following proposed rule detailing the Department’s intent to re-open the Public Comment period for allowing certain entities to  submit their Assessment of Fair Housing (AFH) on a later date. This rule is proposing to allow certain HUD program participants such as States, Insular Areas, qualified PHAs, and jurisdictions receiving a small Community Development Block (CDBG) grant with the option of submitting their first AFH at a date later than would otherwise be required.

This is in response to numerous comments previously submitted in 2013 wherein commenters expressed concern over the ability of some program participants that are small or that receive small grants or fewer HUD allocation funds to prepare and submit the AFH in accordance with the process set out by HUD.
