Starting in 2017, HUD launched a “wholesale reexamination” of REAC’s inspection process and is now in the process of modernizing its physical housing inspection model through its upcoming “National Standards for the Physical Inspection of Real Estate” (NSPIRE) demonstration.
HUD has released the first set of NSPIRE standards for review on its NSPIRE website. Through this release, HUD is honoring its commitment to its stakeholders for an opportunity to view, and comment on, the standards that will be the centerpiece of the NSPIRE Model. HUD is seeking your specific input about the clarity of the deficiencies, the accuracy of the rationales, and the overall usability of the standards.
The initial set of standards, as well as subsequent releases, can be found at: https://www.hud.gov/program_offices/public_indian_housing/reac/nspire/standards
Please continue to visit the site as more standards will be posted as they become available.
