Continuing Resolution Passed
On September 18, the Senate passed the continuing resolution, H.J.RES 124, by a recorded vote of 78 to 22. The House of Representatives passed the CR by a recorded vote of 319 to 108 on September 17. This CR provides funding for the federal government until December 11, 2014 in lieu of the regular appropriations bills that are necessary to keep the government open past the end of the fiscal year (September 30th).

Presidential Nominations for Positions at HUD and the FHFA
On Wednesday, September 17, the Senate confirmed the nomination of Laura S. Wertheimer to be Inspector General of the Federal Housing Finance Agency through a voice vote. The Senate also confirmed Bradford Raymond Huther to be the Chief Financial Officer for HUD.

Bill Seeks to Prevent Limitation on Federal Multifamily Loans
On Tuesday, September 16, Representative Carolyn Maloney (D-NY) introduced H.R. 5495, the Preserving Multifamily Housing Act of 2014. This bill would prohibit the Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA) or other regulators from setting arbitrary limitations on the volume or scope of multifamily housing mortgages backed by Government Sponsored Enterprises (GSEs) Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.
