RHS Plans to Manage Contract Shortfalls in FYs 2013-2014

On May 22, NAHMA staff participated in a call with the Rural Housing Service (RHS) to discuss the rental assistance shortfalls in FY 2013-2014 caused by the across-the-board spending cuts known as sequestration. The shortfalls are even greater after the 2013 continuing resolution, which placed an additional 2.53 percent funding reduction on the US Department of Agriculture.

Attached to this email you will find an outline of the information received by NAHMA staff on how RHS plans to manage these contract shortfalls. RHS has stated that the impact will be limited to September 2013, and that contracts not funded in FY 2013 will be the first to receive funding at the beginning (October 1) of FY 2014.
