HOTMA Interim Reexamination Guidance
On April 13, 2026, HUD’s Offices of Multifamily Housing and Public and Indian Housing issued joint Notice H 2026-05 / PIH 2026-09, announcing updates to Attachment I of the Housing Opportunity Through Modernization Act (HOTMA) Notice H 2023-10/PIH 2023-27.
The updated notice provides revised standards for owners to use when conducting an interim reexamination of income and household composition, as required under Section 102 of HOTMA.
The previous version of Attachment I, published on February 2, 2024, is now superseded. The newly issued Notice is now available on HUDClips.

HUD Publishes Mortgagee Letter Updating Selection of Environmental Requirements
The Office of Multifamily Housing Programs has issued a Mortgagee Letter “Updates to Multiple Environmental Requirements for the Multifamily Accelerated Processing Guide (“MAP Guide”), which provides changes to certain non-regulatory environmental requirements in the 2020 Multifamily Accelerated Processing (MAP) Guide.
These changes align with the Administration’s priorities and Executive Orders to improve operational efficiency, streamline policies and regulatory requirements, and reduce unnecessary burdens on industry partners. Collectively, these changes intend to lower the cost of housing development and support the expansion of affordable housing nationwide.
These changes are effective immediately and apply to all applications that have not reached initial endorsement.
The Office of Multifamily Housing Programs is offering a webinar specifically for lenders, consultants, and industry partners, to review these updated environmental requirements.
