The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Rural Housing Service (RHS) is pleased to inform Rural Development Multifamily housing partners of the 2027 inflationary adjustments published by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).  Under the Housing Opportunity Through Modernization Act (HOTMA), RHS updates specific figures used for income, asset, and eligibility assessments to ensure they reflect prevailing economic conditions. Beginning January 1, 2027, the HUD-published values will serve as the basis for calculating income, net family assets and adjusted income, supporting greater accuracy and transparency in program administration.

Key Calendar Year (CY) 2027 HUD Inflationary Changes – Effective January 1, 2027

  • Calculate imputed income on net family assets above $54,898.
  • The deduction for elderly and disabled individuals is $575.
  • The dependent deduction is $525.
  • The Passbook Savings Rate stands at 0.38%.
